Just left my weekly volunteering position at Rogers Cable in
Durham. As I drive off to my next appointment for the day, I look in my rear view mirror and start smiling to myself. Very few things in life are as good as sharing your teachings with others to assist in propelling the learning curve: and being fully open to receive your learnings from them as well.

That’s the first impression that I get from Teresa Commodaro of Sugar My Skin. I don’t have any other information on her business other than what I’ve recently seen on the website. But already I have thoughts of compassion, humour and a
passionate person that believes in what she’s able to share. I park alongside the
business after passing it once already, located in the downtown Oshawa area. I gather myself together, then proceed to open my car door and as I get out: I’m greeted with a welcoming smile and her beautiful doggy. We sit down to converse with a cup of mint tea and start chatting away. You see, about a month ago, I went with two (2) family members to get my eyebrows done for the very first time. It was actually a quick and painless morning…I enjoyed the experience. So, I have an idea what to expect…I think, but now l know where to come with family and friends: ‘Sugar My Skin’. Teresa and her staff apply a sugar paste to your skin to remove any unnecessary body hair (head and neck are exempt).

Some of the benefits from sugaring is a significant reduction to ingrown hair, redness, tearing, bleeding, sensitivity reactions and general discomfort of the skin. I see along the walls, her many plaques and I quickly identify her packages: Uptown Sugar Stop is anything above the waist and the Downtown Sugar Stop, well that’s below the waist. I look over her tools and it’s amazing how we are still using products from the ancient civilization of Egypt.  Sugar My Skin doesn’t stop there: various Massages & Skin Brushing, as well as Moor Face and Body-care. SPA Experience and Quantum Touch are great credentials, but there’s more to her. She’s celebrating the skin and spirit she’s in. In life there can be many distractions that will attempt to hinder your progress. And many times we lose ourselves in our personal playground: swinging up & down, sliding further down, going in circles on that merry-go-around till you get a sickness in the pit of your stomach. Realizing that she needed to come off and get her feet grounded, that’s exactly what Teresa did.
