Hear from some of Canada’s top entrepreneurs, including CBC Dragon Bruce Croxon, in a lively discussion about how entrepreneurship and innovation can help transform our region.

Good afternoon everyone,

I am emailing you today personally as we have an event coming up in June that might be very beneficial for your business. As a small business owner getting some help and support could be key to company growth, sustainability and overall helping you focus on work you SHOULD be doing, not HAVING to do. In June we are hosting an event called the Co-op Advantage. Here you’ll get to meet all the local schools (Durham College, UOIT, Trent University, Durham Catholic/Public School Boards, Durham Workforce Authority, TriOS College and Blyth Academy) and learn about the opportunities they have to provide you with co-op students/interns etc…

I know sometimes the thought of a student within your workplace might not be a good fit, but I’m telling ya – from personal experience, you just have to do it right. At the Chamber we are very specific with what students we want – average grades, background, work experience etc….and so far we’ve had the top students working with us over 2 years. I couldn’t get my work done without my student and I’ve come to rely on someone each semester. AND the best part is, is that I’m training our future workforce, I get to train those in business on what the real world is like – priceless to a student.

The event is no cost to attend, you get to mix and mingle with schools, other businesses and students – lovely snacks and cash bar is also available. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
