This workshop is intended for those who have or are in the process of developing social media marketing for their small business.  This is not a beginners course.

Social Media is rapidly changing our world.  There is a dramatic shift from traditional “push marketing” (one message to many people) to “pull marketing” (interactive engagement).

Join Leslie Hughes from PUNCH!media as we show you how to leverage your existing network of connections to:
increase the visibility of your business (more word-of-mouth!)
position yourself as an expert
deepen the relationship with your customers and prospects
grow your business
Empower yourself with knowledge about which platform works best for your business, how to begin and the best ways to maximize your presence while managing your time effectively.

The session on March 20th will offer a social media “crash course” concentrating on the various social media tools and how to use them effectively, where to find content and how to start developing an organized social media campaign.  The session on March 27th will give attendees the opportunity to have hands-on training on how to build a rock-solid presence on LinkedIn and build a Facebook Fan Page.

If you manufacture, import, distribute or sell a consumer product in Canada, as of June 20, 2011 there are new federal requirements under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act which affect you.

The CCPSA covers a wide variety of consumer products including children’s toys and equipment; children’s jewellery; textiles; household products; and sporting goods.  Items such as natural health products, food, cosmetics and drugs are not covered under this Act (other legislation applies).
Several measures that are clearly defined in the Act will impact all businesses across Canada.

The new Act introduces additional responsibilities for business, but also provides additional benefits. After all, product safety is not only everyone’s business – it makes good business sense as well.

An unsafe product in the marketplace is bad news for consumers and businesses. For businesses, unsafe products create negative public perception and shaky consumer confidence. Product recalls are costly and disruptive for industry. The new approach will help keep unsafe products out of the market.

Finally, by introducing consistency and compatibility with the product safety systems of international trading partners, Canadian manufacturers will be in a better competitive situation when exporting their products.
